why is red used...
in alot of school work type things... i just remembered it and started wondering why red was chosen...
see nearly every book i've ever had it had red 'examples' in it, or important dates/events are written in red, the teacher usually uses a red pen to grade papers.... hell even the bible with the highlighted jesus text uses red...
so why red? does anyone actually have an explination..? the only reason i can think of is it's bright enough to draw your attention while not being dark enough to be missed or too bright and hurting your eyes....slipknotpsycho Reviewed by slipknotpsycho on . why is red used... in alot of school work type things... i just remembered it and started wondering why red was chosen... see nearly every book i've ever had it had red 'examples' in it, or important dates/events are written in red, the teacher usually uses a red pen to grade papers.... hell even the bible with the highlighted jesus text uses red... so why red? does anyone actually have an explination..? the only reason i can think of is it's bright enough to draw your attention while not being dark enough Rating: 5

why is red used...
well i wasn't sure if that was really the reason.... because there are other colors that could substitute for the exact same effect... but they are NEVER used.... just doesn't seem logical to me that if it were just for visibility sakes that only red would ever be used in all the print that has been made over the years...

Well the other thing to think about is that back in the day, red was such an easy die to make. Today, it is still about the most populous color as far as dies go, which would make it about the cheapest. Plus.. people have been using red ink for corrections for so long, why change now? Actually, I had teachers that would use other colors, but no color ever stood out like red.

Red is used for corrections so that it looks like someone bled all over your work.
Actually, I think it is mostly used for visibliilty. I edit a lot of hardcopy, and it is just very easy to see. But I will also use blue. Black is no good, because it doesn't stand out.More of the same: Renger\'s Rantings

I like that a lot but,
Red is used to draw attention. It is the hottest of colors psychologically and that is why you see it for stop signs, sales and the blood they pour over your hard work as corrections.
Red was a color that was restricted to royals during their heyday (they are still around though) and again, you can see this in all their grand salons.
Red gives you adrenaline actually.
Red is not a color you want a room to be, as it would make people very uncomfortable and it was once the color of fire and emergency workers until studies showed yellow brings more awareness to their presence.
Red is the color of the hairs on well-matured cannabis flowers. Which would be where I would want to see the most red.
