    1000w on light rail vs 2 600w

Would it be better to run one 1000w MH/HPS on a light rail or two 400w mh/600w hps. Going to have 2 rubbermaid bins with about 6 to 8 pants in each and a foot in between the bins.

    Thanks for all your input!

Two 600Ws will give you better "coverage" and more flexibility in your positioning of them.

I agree with turtle, plus you should try to mix it up. Optimum is about 15% red light while vegging, the rest blue, and the opposite for budding.

How do I go about setting up a 240v outlet for a lumatek dual 600w ballast to control 2 lights?

If you have to ask that question, you shouldn't be doing your own electrical work. Get an electrician to do it for you.

I'm not trying to be mean, this just isn't a job for a novice.

I'm definitely not implying I'd ever try it. I'd like to live to smoke what I'm trying to grow! I just meant more so saying "Uhh hey electrician I need a 240v socket put into this closet in my basement..."

I've actually decided to go with two 120v Lumatek ballasts instead. It might cost more to run electrically but it gives me more options if I move my setup in the future, if I wanted two rooms with 1 light, etc.

    Thanks for all the input!

I've found that I can do anything myself if I want to do it badly enough. You could easily do your own wiring while having no previous knowledge of it. Just study up. You could learn what you need to know for that project in one evening of reading by the fireplace. Just buy a couple books or check them out of the library. I'll let you borrow mine, but you would have to come get them and return them in nearly the same condition. And of course constantly be thinking of safety in planning and execution.

The amount of light also depends on the size of the room/grow space.
