Does this look OK (Pale Veins)
Hi Guys,
Just need a liitle advice on my Great White Sharks. On day 14 and have noticed the paler veins on the leafs, is this OK. Their in John Innes No3 from seed under a 400W MH running 20/4. Only my second grow and as my first all turned Hermie on me (Dutch Passion Skunk11) I want this grow to be better.
Thanks in advance

I'm going to move this to problems, since you DO have a problem.
That plant is showing classic but mild Mg deficiency. You need to identify the cause, but in the meantime, dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of Epsom salts in a gallon of tepid water and mist the plant lightly with that. Only do this a couple times.
Be sure that your soil pH is 6.5-6.9 and your soil is free-draining and not sitting on a cold surface.
That plant is old enough to start feeding a weak solution of a complete grow fert. The first week, only feed at 1/4-1/2 the recommended strength.

I know I could rely on you for a quick and precise reply. Sorry for posting in the wrong section.

Hi stinkyattic,
Here's a picture of one of the plants 4 days ago which would appear to show signs of a Mg def as well. I've been away for a few days so I gave them a good drink to keep them going, the heating was also turned down. Looking at the 4 day ago picture it looks like I already had a problem so I can rule out anything I've done recently. I have one of my old Skunk seeds going at the same time (yes the same strain that Hemied on me) and that looks fine, if not a lot smaller, so I can only assume that the GWS is a bit more particular of growing conditions. I'll have to get a Ph tester and check out the soil.

try getting one of those packs off entire spectrum nutes for it. (the ones w/ zinc, iron, mg, etc)

Bazza, that second plant is right on the EDGE of being ready for nutrients. I'd let it grow one more set of leaves. The fact that you see a deficiency in a plant so young makes me think that you have a soil issue.
What is your max/min temp, and what is your soil runoff pH? Those are the things that I'd be looking to as culrprits at this point.

Thanks for the replies. The temp thing is a good question as I'm been trying to get away with not having to get the extraction fan out at this stage as its a bit of a pain running it to the outside world, but having said that my temps have been going up and down like a yo-yo so I've decided to rig up the extraction fan to try and control them a bit more. I was getting up to the low 30's with lights on and down below the 20's with lights off. I was hoping to use the coldness of the surrounding room to keep my Grow tent cooler but its seems not to work so well, so its out with the fan. One thing I have noticed is that the plants that are showing the problems appear to still have quite a lot of moisture in the soil after I had left them for a few days, where as the heather looking plants appear to have dryer soil. I didn't put any stones in the bottom of any of the pots this time, so that may be having some effect on drainage.
I brought myself some Epsom salts today, should I give them a spray now, or see if putting some drainage in helps first?
I also have a Ph tester so I'll give that a go later.
Thanks
Bazza

Okay, your temperature swings are pretty extreme.
I will say that in your case, going to a 24 on- 0 off light cycle and running a small fan in the tent for circulation will help you stabilize your temps. That's my primary reason for recommending 24/0 to people.
The soil moisture makes sense; better-rooted plants will use moisture at a steadier rate.
Stones in the bottom are only so helpful; instead, if you feel you've got moisture-retention issues, drill holes in the SIDES of the pots as well to help aerate the soil and dry it out. Use a 1/2" paddle bit.
Give them a light mist with the epsom salts at 1/4-1/2 tsp/gallon and try not to get any excess in the soil.

Hi guys,
Thought I'd let you know how things are going. The two pictures are from 3 days apart so you can see things are still growing. I now have my temps under control at around 26 lights on and 19 lights off, this can easily be adjusted if need be. I also sprayed the plants a couple of times with the Epsom salt dilution previously mentioned. I haven't checked the Ph level yet as I've read that the Ph meter I brought is not worth a wank, why do I always buy something and then read up on it after the event?Anyway, I thought I'd give them a feed first to see what happens, I've also used tap water for the first time instead of rain water, the guy down the head-shop told me it was pretty good in this area.
