The problem is that you should not have cut off those leaves. The two 'pedal-like' leaves were the cotyledons that supply the nutrients for the plant to grow for the first several weeks. Now that you have removed them, the plant will need to pull it's nutrients from the media it is growing in.

As a rule of thumb, do not remove leaves unless they are DEAD or highly damaged.

gainesvillegreen Reviewed by gainesvillegreen on . Leaf Situation My plant is only about 2-3 weeks in, hes got 10 serrated leaves currently. The 2 pedal like leaves started to turn yellow so i cut them off, hoping i did that right, but now the first 2 serrated leaves that came in are nice and big but are starting to droop and turn yellow/brownish at the ends. My friend said these first 2 serrated leaves are useless and should be removed, that correct? Thanks Rating: 5
