Create the Perfect President
I'm putting this in no particular order because I don't feel I can rank their importance in a cut-and-dry manner.
Abortion should be available for reasons of medical necessity, hands down. As for trimesters, I'm not familiar enough to make a clear judgement on this. I'll say this: before any brainwaves are present, it should be available across the board. Once any neural activity is present it should be allowed as a matter of medical necessity, a very poor financial situation, or inevitable severe illness in the child. I don't support anybody doing this as a means of casual birth control. If you can support it, and it's healthy, then you should!ABORTION
As for partial-birth abortions, doing them in the last month or two; that's just sick. I don't support partial birth/really late term, that's outright murder IMO.
I support an affirmative action not based on race, but on need. I think if a kid shows superb academic ability and comes from a poor neighborhood, regardless of his/her race, they should get some special funding.AFFIRMATIVE ACTION
I do not support special consideration based on race. If a black kid shows exceptional academic ability, he will get the scholarship he deserves.
Ohhhhhh that's a complicated one! Too vast to cover in one post really. But I support elimination or bare-minimum application of the income tax. Taxes need to be minimalized by cutting out many of the government's major wasting of money. I do, however, support a moderate degree of taxation for a socialized medical system along side the private sector, as well as educational funding.BUDGET & TAXES
I say implement an outright ban on donations from corporations. Now this could still be difficult because of individuals making large donations handed over to them by corporations.CAMPAIGN & POLITICAL REFORM
So.... assuming we can't figure out a way around that, put very short caps on corporate donations.
Actually, I'm just gonna say it, I don't know how the hell we can get around this problem. There's always a way to weasle around the system and make sure corporations get special policy consideration. Damned if I know how to fix it. Maybe because it's late and I'm half asleep right now...
Extremely strong penalties for gun crimes, rape, murder, million-dollar white-collar crimes... I'm sure I'll think of more later.CRIME
Overal, I'm not for this primitive eye-for-an-eye notion of justice by revenge. I would take a utilitarian approach that focuses on harm-reduction (for society)
I don't particularily care for the death penalty, I don't think it's an effective deterrent, but unforuntately I think there's times it's called for. I would reserve it for the real bad sicko's, the Ted Bundy's and John Wayne Gaisy's of the world.DEATH PENALTY
In fact, I think I'd reserve it for rape/murder combo's and multiple murders above a pre-determined number. Otherwise murderers would get typical life-sentences.
End this rediculous war on drugs and start treating it as a public health issue. Do away with the DEA and cut off all funding to anti-drug groups like DARE who only discourage drug use by lies and scare tactics, rather than educating the public with real facts.DRUGS
Personal use and small amounts of any substance should be decriminalized. Cannabis and hallucinogens should be legalized, regulated, and taxed; their tax-profits put into rehabilitation centers.
Production and sale of any other controlled substance carry's harsh penalties, long prison sentences. This will include alcohol.
Acohol and tobacco, however, will be legal to produce in small quantities. Sale, however, is still illegal.
Addicts who are found to have committed a crime to feed their habbit, or committing assult/murder because of a drug-induced violent state, will be forced into a rehabilitation center. Even after their addiction is past, they will remain a while longer and learn healthier ways of living; providing programs such as yoga, tai chi, health and fitness, and meditation.
Education should recieve more funding for smaller classroom sizes and up-to-date textbooks and equipment. Teachers in the US should be getting paid considerably more, relatively on-par with Canadian teacher's wages. ($36,000-$60,000 a year depending on experience).EDUCATION
Private schools are of course allowed, but with no government funding.
Forming a nation and people that live in harmony with nature should be a top priority. I strongly believe this is essential to mental and physicall health/well-being.ENVIRONMENT
I support the creation of mass and intricate transportation systems such as skytrains that run on clean, all-electric energy, provided to the public at minimal cost per ride.
We should aim to have all-electric cars on the road in a reasonable time period. Companies like Tesla motors have finally invented electric cars that are as (and more) powerful as any combustion engine. The myth that we need bio-diesel and hydrogen are perpetuated to keep oil companies in business. I actually do support keeping them in business, because it is a huge industry after all, but their efforts will have to be transferred to electric power stations, vehicular and battery production, and management of other transportation models.
Aircraft should run off hydrogen fuel, as it's the only non-polluting fuel I'm aware of that would have sufficient power to fly jumbo-jets.
Industrial emissions need to be massively cut, with the eventual goal of zero emmisions nation-wide.
Power grids should be largely based on existing clean technologies like hydro power wherever available. The rest will provided by micro-hydro, tidal energy, and wind. Wind power, while initially expensive, will be more economically sound in the long run since no refueling will be necessary.
Produciton of new houses will mandage energy-efficient models, with solar-panneled roofs and/or geothermal heating systems, taking huge strain off the public power grid.
I believe that anybody living in a terminally ill state, in constant pain and suffering, should have the right to end their own life by means of physician-assisted suicide. Methods like morphine overdose would be preferrable. If they're going to die anyway, why should they be forced to live out the last few months in agony? Value of life should be based on quality of life, not just the fact that you're alive. It's your life, it's your right to choose.EUTHANASIA ("Right-to-Die")
No more policing the world.FOREIGN RELATIONS
Humanitarian efforts will remain at relatively the same level.
Businesses will be limmited in how much of their workforce can be from other nations. A certain percentage, I'll say 70%, must be American (or the same nationality as the company's owners).
What can I say? I'm all for it.FIRST AMENDMENT, FREE SPEECH & THE INTERNET
I believe gays should have the right to be married if they so choose. The "sanctity of marrage" is bullshit, Christianity does not have a monopoly on this union and should not dictate it's principles. Buddhists, Atheists, Hindu's can all get married after all. And really, some speak fearfully of destroying the "sanctity"; well, how exactly is two men or women getting married going to affect your marrage?GAY RIGHTS
Sodomy in a consentual context should be 100% legal. Making a sexual practice illegal on Christian principles in unconstitutional, it's none of the states business and big brother can stay out of the bedroom.
Handguns, shotguns, and rifles should be completely legal. Assault weapons should not, they're unessecary IMO.GUNS
I support a 3 day waiting period for background checks, and thus those with a violent criminal record or mental illness will be barred from owning a firearm.
I also support allowing the general public to carry firearms on their person. I don't support making the general public defenseless against victimizers and criminals. If you're going to pull a gun and rob a store, you might think twice knowing half the customers are carrying.
I support a government-funded, socialized healthcare system like we have here in Canada. But, I'm 100% against this federal ban we have on privitized healthcare. private healthcare should be available to anybody who can afford it, thus getting the wealthy out of the line in the free system so the low-income can get in faster.HEALTH CARE
I also support government-funded fitness, nutritional advising, yoga, tai chi, and meditation programs provided at minimal cost, no cost to those who couldn't afford it. An ounce of prevention is worth 100 pounds of treatment. I think the general public should enjoy a healthier lifestyle.
If you come here illegally, skipping legal proceedure, you're booted the frick out right away. If you keep coming back ilegally, you're going to prison.IMMIGRATION
Immigrants with valuable skills, such as tradesmen, doctors, pharmacists, high-education sorts should have top priority. Nobody with a criminal record should be allowed in.
We should demand suppliers have the same health and safety checks on their products that we do. Otherwise the rest is outlined in foreign relations.INTERNATIONAL TRADE
Fully in support of labor unions. I not support the government's ability to force a labor union to end a strike by arbitrarily declaring them an "essential service". I don't know about the states, but here in BC our government has done this to 7 major unions after they striked against massive pay cuts. One such union was the nurses union; my mother is a nurse, she works her ass off and does not deserve a 15% pay cut, especially after those assholes voted themselves a raise shortly after.LABOR UNIONS, JOBS & BUSINESS
Business practice is outlined in foreign relations.
Military should be shrunk to a considerably smaller size, but one sufficient enough to occupy or defend against any nation. I support missile defense systems and homeland defense forces. The army should be made into a much smaller, elite fighting force. One that has the best, latest-and-greatest equipment and highest degree of training on-par with special forces; just much much smaller.MILITARY, WAR & VETERANS
Foreign invasions and wars should be based on a real, direct threat to the united states or her allies; usually based on that nation directly attacking us. No more world police, military action will be defensive.
The navy is way larger than it needs to be, and should be cut.
An anti-missile defense system and anti-nuclear defense system, that is perfected and utterly covered, should be installed. Then all land-based nuclear arms should be scrapped (which will save a pretty penny). Trident submarines, which make up about 50% of the US's nuclear arsenal (last I heard) will remain in very small numbers, ready to carry out the unthinkable should things come to that.
