Is it necissary to always flood rockwool 1" cubes?
yeah but if its just run over the cube it probably wouldnt suck that much water in anyway..rockwool absorbs alot when submerged but if water is just run over it, itll dry out pretty quick...not to mention rockwool is supposed to give your rootball plenty of air anyway even if it is watered..so i dont see a problem at all.

In an Ebb& Flow system, once the roots have grown into clay pellets, past the 1" rockwool cubes, would it be okay to never have any moisture on the rockwool? flooding 3 times a day would hold too much moisture in the cube I would think... but just enough for hydroton. would the roots in the rockwool cube become stems or something? hah.
