Germination questions...
I've had about 10 seeds laying around for 3-4 mos. (in a dime bag in my nightstand). about 2 weeks ago I decided that I'd try to grow them... I have a 1.5ft x 3.5ft x 4ft grow room covered with reflective mat. and about 2500 lumens per sq ft(fluoros).
I tried the paper towel method first with about 5 seeds. after 2 days, nothing. Later I was looking around and found the cup o' water method (just drop the seeds in and let them soak until they sink), so I put 4 in and after a day most of them had sunk (but I still couldn't see a tap root).
I decided to just go ahead and plant them anyway. the mix is Peat moss, worm castings, perlite and maybe compost...(I can't remember), I watered once when I put them in and then just moistened the top with a spray bottle when they felt dryish. Well it's been 4 days and I've yet to see a sign of the little guys (well girls hopefully). I've got the temp about 70 f and humidity around 70%, a 1000 lumen lamp 2in above the soil and the room illuminated to 2500 lumens/sqft. Oh and I started at 24 hr light cycle the 1st day and turned it down to 18-6 after that.
So I guess I'm wondering if there is anything I should change/worry about my set-up to help them?
or am I just being impatient...lolOneder Reviewed by Oneder on . Germination questions... I've had about 10 seeds laying around for 3-4 mos. You should have let them sit in the paper towel method for up to 4 days at the most.
Make sure that the seeds are always moist and dont dry out.

never heard of or used the cup meathod. but theyll take about 4- days to come out of te ground
for all future grows, plant the seeds off the bat as is. ive done it with 11 seeds, and8 sprouted. the 3 remaining seeds i dug up an did the towel method with still no sign watsoever of gemination.
long story short: soil planting saves replanting dangers and time, and works just as well if not better than the stupid towel method.

Germination questions...
I combined both methods and had more seedlings than i know what to do with. Soaked the seeds til they sank, then placed them in moist but not dripping paper towels, placed em in a tupperware container, and placed em in a dark location. After a couple days most seeds were actually trying to grow into the paper. Many stuck to the towels from hairs that grew out of the initial root. Try that next time if this run doesn't pan out.

I agree with the above.
I put them in water until they cracked, and then I threw them in the paper towel until the tap rot was about a quarter inch long. Plant it tip down about an eighth inch from the surface.

Seeds can take up to 2 weeks to crack, depending on age and strain.
They don't need to be lit until you actually see the cotyledons poking up.
Get temps up a little, upper 70s is ideal.

I use The same method, and have about a 90-100% Germination rate. Putting them in the cup until they sink is just to soften the shell, but sometimes a taproot will start, I have came back a few days later and the root and seed are just floating in the cup.

So 3 of my original 5 seeds sprouted. Then one of the sprouts died.
So I've got 2 growing waiting for 2 more
