They are compact, easy to plumb into ductwork, and move more air than just about anything else (especially for their size).

I always see people mentioning inline fans and im curious as to why? i've no experience with them, i just used an old 8inch fan i had kicking around the house as my exhaust (its massive overkill for the situation but it gets the job done and then some) Are they quieter?
