As already said, it's perfectly normal. It should be translucent grayish/brownish and cover the stem right around where the cotyledons are/were.

Silver skin on stem what could be causing such a wierd thing looked up some pics of plant problems and none matched my symptoms could it be form overwatering? Ill post a pic 2morow if no one can help me without one. Also its like a thin silver crust that is growin only on the stem and i wouldnt say hard to peel off but it isnt easy either.
