Did you start it from seed? sounds like the same thing is happening to my four(which are looking lush!-from seed.) I dont think it is anything to worry about,I think its just an old baby skin? If it were a tree,it would be like silver birch shedding its old bark.

Ill post a pic 2morow if no one can help me without one. Also its like a thin silver crust that is growin only on the stem and i wouldnt say hard to peel off but it isnt easy either.
