A few questions on rice crispies

Hey all, I plan on making a batch of rice crispy treats in a few hours or so. I plan on using cannabutter in the recipe, but Im having trouble figuring out the dosage. Ive read on this website than when made properly (allowed to simmer for at least an hour) it will be very potent. Ive also heard that you need significantly more weed to cook with. Me and my friends dont have any unusually high tolerences, a gram of the weed being used would get 3 of us pretty high if we smoked it.

Also, i tried searching on here but didnt see any rice crispy recipes, can anyone send me a link? I only want to make a maximum of 8 treats, and the ones ive seen were for more. Would a 1/4 ounce be too much or too little, a bit under a gram per?

Also, I have no herb grinder, is doing it by hand ok, ive heard it needs to very fine. Should I chop it up?

Lastly, I have no cheesecloth available, and am having trouble thinking of a way to get the plant material out of the butter. I read about a guy using a coffee filter with a few holes poked through it, would that work? Or should I just go to the grocery store and try and buy some (not sure what cheesecloth really is to be honest with you.)

A few questions on rice crispies

    Hi Trickster

I've tried this one before, and a gram and a half will do the four of you no problem.

Chop up your grass as finely as you can, then simmer the weed with a tablespoonful of butter in a mixing bowl set over boiling water for an hour (preferably two), then add a large bar of chocolate and melt into the canna butter. Once melted stir in your rice crispies until your mixture is thick (until you can scoop up a large spoonful without it falling apart).

Spoon into cup cake holders, put in the fridge and wait to set. (about 20 minutes).

    Eat and enjoy

    Good luck

Oh, awesome idea on the chocolate, will definitely be doing that. Id like to make about 8 actually, so would 3 grams and 2 tablespoons do it? Also, I really have no idea how much cereal and marshmellow to use, can ya give me any advice, ill probably be using a muffin pan like you said. Also, would one hershy bar be too much? too little? Thanks a lot!

A few questions on rice crispies

hey, I ended up making the rice crispy's, had a stressful time getting it done, but now I'm just waiting on the guinea pigs to try it.

First I used a double boiler to steam melt a little bit more than half a stick of butter, I then added around 6-7 grams of broken up mid grade cannabis. I had to do it by hand mostly, so the broken up bud was far from a powder, but still as broken up as I was going to get it.

I let the butter cook for about 40 minutes, stirring it ever 3 or 4 minutes, when my friends mom pulled into the drive way. She's not OK with weed, so we had to run and put the pot of butter and boiling water in the backyard.

The smell was not bad at all. It smelled like it a bit to the trained nose, but my friends mom walked into the kitchen and never said anything about a smell. We did have a candle going the entire time and the stove fan though.

It took me about another 45 minutes before I could get to a friends house and get the butter going again. I cooked it for another 20 minutes, because that is all the time we had. I then added half a hershys chocolate bar, let it melt, and mixed it in with the weed/butter mixture. I then added 2 and a half cups marshmallow, let it melt, then took it off heat. I then added 2 and a half cups rice crispy cereal, and stirred for a minute or two, before dumping it all into a buttered 8 x 8" pan.

I then had to leave, and kept the pan in my car for about an hour and a half. I then cut the dish of treats into 8 identical slices. I gave 2 of them to a friend, for him and his girlfriend to try out tommorow. I did try some of what was left at the bottom of the mixing bowl after emptying the bowl into the baking pan, it tasted ok, sorta spicy like weed, sweet like chocolate, the consistancy of marshmallows, and very buttery. When I cut the slices out they seemed really greasy/buttery, and probably dont taste so hot. If I repeat this i will probably only use 3 tablespoons of butter on the next attempt.

But yea, I went a bit over the dosage you recommended Flameon, but the bud was not broken up as well as I would have liked it, the butter had to be cooked on 2 seperate occasions (not sure if this will affect anything), and I only got about an hour of cooking time. I cant say if I feel anything from eating the bit I did, since I smoked 4 bowls over this day, but I don't feel sober, and its been 2 hours since I last smoked.

I really hope this works out, my friend and his girlfriend will be the first to eat these, and they are doing them tommorow evening, so I will find out soon. Ill letcha know if they turn out ok.

btw, sorry if this was too long

A few questions on rice crispies

    Hi trickster,
Looking forward to hearing how they turn out.
If you get chance, you should consider buying a grinder to help break up your weed, it'll help make it go further whether your cooking or smoking.

A few questions on rice crispies

The rice crispys didnt turn out well at all. They were much less potent than I had hoped. using about a gram per rice crispy treat, I had expected just one to get someone nice and baked, but even eating 2 only gave a mild experience.

I ended up eating 5 of them yesterday between the times of 10am and 1:30pm. They started kicking in around 3:30 and by 4:30 I was blazed as anything. I was real high from then till about 10pm. It was an incredible high, more euphoric and trippy that usual, a very different experience compared to smoking, it almost felt like the first time I smoked weed. I didn't think it would really do much, since eating 2 was weak enough that I almost thought it was placebo, but I was wrong. I had a great time, but definitely don't think one good high is worth 35 dollars in weed.

Can anyone tell me what they think went wrong? Does not having the weed ground up very fine make a big difference in potency? I also read a few cannabutter guides in which the butter/pot was simmered for nearly 24 hours, but they also used a lot more pot/butter. Did it not have long enough to get the THC out?

Oh yea, and the rice crispys tasted horrible. Ill be straining the weed out next time. They were also way too buttery, the recipe probably only needed half the amount of butter, if that.
