For what reason wouldn't you want your kid vaccinated for chicken pox and hepatitis B? It's a state requirement that doesn't cost the family a dime. They even tried door to door!

As a Baby Boomer, I grew up in an America where the scourges of epidemics and childhood diseases had affected almost every family, either directly or indirectly. (My father had a sister who died from some silly childhood disease.) The ravages of polio were evident everywhere, and one of my worst fears as a child was that I might someday end up in an iron lung.

Subsequent generations never had to deal with these horrors. To them, vaccines aren't a miracle of science, but rather an imposition on their freedom of choice.

Sad....
