Damn man, that sounds rough.

The only resemblence hash has to mollasses would be along the lines of Gold Seal bubblehash/ Dark brown bubblehash is very soft, like a warm piece of bubbleicious bubblegum, but, it is by no means sticky, just soft.

So if it smells like it and tastes sweet like mollasses, I am guessing that's what it is. Hash, is not sticky like you described.

I would say toss it and find a new dealer. You said it didn't get you high and tasted bad, so I say cut your losses and find a new source. Smoking sugar can be very bad for, so I personally wouldn't risk it. I'd be pissed at the person though and call them up, tell them it obviously isn't hash.
