You ever thought that maybe the guy knows the right person or something? It's not inconceivable...I've paid $20 for an Oz. of some top notch shit before. Hell, I once had a guy give me a $20 bag for half a pack of cigarettes when I was in school. I even had a guy sell me a gram for $3, HIS price not mine.

All 3 were rare situations that not everybody will get to experience, but I had a few lucky days. I can very easily see one of my friends growing weed and selling to me for $5 a gram.

i can't emphasize how much i agree with you. price has nothing to do with the real quality of a product. ever. ever. the only thing that matters is the dealer and his money. he charges you with what he can manage to. if it's some really bomb medical shit and he just so happens to have a bunch on deck and he's your homie he may give you 2 grams for fucking 15 dollars. it doesn't matter. who's to say that just because you pay little for your bud that it isn't bomb ass bud. i hook up my friends with everything. og kush and trainwreck for 10 a gram. medical too. life is too short i dont give a fuck i hook up homies

Yeah thats good for dro. Here, 1.7g is commonly called a half 8th.

Roughly 1/16 of 1 ounce. Since an 8th can easily go for $50 in many places, paying half that for half the herb isn't terribly unreasonable.
