    Cross Country Skiing

    on Beachguy's request..

I have done this quite a few times..I actually learned how to do this before I learned how to ski..
I got sent up to Bridgeport, CA for winter training..2 months of cross country skiing, making snow caves, eating winter MRE's and a shitload of walking up mountains..pretty fucking cold too..I thought i was going to lose some toes a few times..I also sprained my ankle..I remember it to..learning how to do a transition with a pack and a rifle..I got buried head first, twised the shit out of my ankle..so I got to chill back at the tent and sleep for a few days..haha

On a side note: right before I went to Bridgeport I punched my best friend in his eye and gave him the biggest black eye..he called me a dick...I felt bad, but we didnt talk for 2 weeks..
also seen another guy get a blanket party..that was real fucked up..they punched that dude hard.

Oh yeah, have you ever cross country skiied?

Yup. I do it on the regular. I learned to x-c ski when I was like 3 or 4. I'm still not all that great, oh well. Who cares. So what if my VERY clumsy telemark turns leave me in a crumpled heap at the base of a tree! It's relaxing!
I live across from a conservation area with x-c ski trails and it's beautiful. Now we just need some SNOW already, dammit!
Sheesh there's one more reason that Geo was meant to be a New Englander. I'm starting to think we oughta get a relocate-Geo fund going.

Skiing. Good. I would have pegged ya as a snowboarder geo... *shudder*

One more thing about cross-country... it's FREE. I'm SICK TO DEATH of paying $1400 for a season pass to wait in lift lines with the bratty children of snotty tourists, while the Long Island Trophy Wives sipping spiked hot cocoa in the lodge sneer at my outfit...

Oh SNAP geo I don't wear sweats!
My ski garb is much simpler than the shit they try to make you wear, the brightly colored gore-tex stuff that costs more than I make in a month. Black very plain ski pants from Old NAvy (I was shocked, I didn't know they made ski pants, they were the only pair in the men's clearance rack like 4 years ago), black northface puffy, black mink hat c. 1945 found at the Anchorage AK salvation army, and a pair of sealskin musher mittens also from SA.
It's not 'in style' but it SHORE ain't short on style!
And anyway I'm just a BLUR the moment my skis touch down.
