Hortilux is a good brand. Look for something that has 5700K wavelength for veg and 2200K for bud.

I have a 400 Watt HPS/MH interchangeable ballast. Right now I am using the ones provided with the kit I bought and they seem to be fine. They did their job for the first hydro cycle.
