From early on that has been flames suggestion when someone had a batch and didnt turnout. So im guessing yes What have you got to lose?
Did you use a thermometer the kind the you can actually stick in the oil and what did your temp during the cooking process if you had one?

cooked it on high tonight for 2 more hours. It sorta worked this time i took 5 pills that again or about half the size of 00. But it wasnt nearly anything good enogh to have wasted that much bud on. Guess ill try it with dro next time and see if that makes a difference.

Im glad to hear it sorta worked. Just a suggestion if you havent tried it, get a thermometer (Cant be meat cause it only goes up to 220) you need one that measures higher temps although as weed has stated he puts it on 225 all night. If you dont have a thermometer get one before you do the next batch becuase you need to be able to at least rule out the temp. Personally I think the thermometer is just as vital as the crockpot imho

ok and what is the ideal temp and what is too high? And would you recomend me trying with dro next time or maybe the temp thing could eliminate the problem and still try with some mids. One more thing lol, what if i just put an 1/8th of mids in there, it would do the same thing with just less pills right?

Weed (a contributor to this board) has his own thread that he started from this reciepe and swears by 225 overnight. you want to keep the temp below the vaporization. Basically if you get it to hot your releasing the thc into the air and not the oil. According to the people at NORML the vaporizing temp of Gods greatest herb is around 180 to 190 c 356-375 f. Try 225 and try not to let it get over 275-300. Also how are you grinding/chopping your weed. You want to get your weed almost powder consistent for the best results (The more surface area in contact with the oil, the more trichomes that are exposed to the oil) In regards to the potency you have to be careful not to use too little oil for the weed. Flame (the creater of this post) has found that messing with the ratio can cause problems. The ratio that apperantly works is 1 1/2 teaspoon of Coconut oil to 1.5 Grams of dank. I wouldnt try this reciepe with anything less then mids. Its a vital indgredent.
The 4 T's to THC extraction IMHO
1. Temp - 225-275 try not let it spike over 300
2. Time - Let cook overnight
3. Texture - Grind Grind Grind to as fine a powder as you can
4. THC Content - Dont use anything less then mids
5. THC Ratio Don't use to much herb to oil. (I f i want to try something stronger i would just take a few extra)

i read going through the thread again that grinding makes a huge difference... all i had was scissors and my fingers so ill invest in a coffee grinder maybe and see if that helps and maybe ill listen to you guys and try the oven overnight instead of the crockpot this time. Be careful with the oven. Basically if your stinking up your house ubake it too high. The smell shouldnt be overbearing. I would highly suggest reviewing this thread http://boards.cannabis.com/concentra...ns-recipe.html before starting a new batch. Dont want to waste ur stuff. Weed took flames recipe (creator of this thread) and has tinkered with it for years. Swears by it

my turn to contribute

have now tried this 4 times.

the combination which works best so far was the latest.

-1.5g of keef
-3.5g of prime nug (white widow) (3 stage ground, see below)
-3.5 teaspoons clarified butter
-crockpot, low setting, lid vented 3/4 in and small towel on top.
-temps approx 220-250F
-approx 20-24 hrs simmer
-yield, 20 caps.


I use what I call a 3-stage grinding process.
I have a standard grinder w keef screen that i use first.
I have a compact, no-screen, single chamber grinder that I re-grind the first batch with.
I then take that and put it in a tea strainer and hand grind it thru the screen with a tablespoon.
This leaves me with a thimble-worth of tiny sticks which i toss out.
This also leaves me with a finely ground powder almost the same grit/texture as the keef I then combine with it and mix well before adding to the clarified butter.

unbiased and objective reviews are difficult for me personally due to my daily smoking intake, LOL. But, when I took 2 I had a nice buzz for most of the night.
Personally, I use them as maintenance. 1 with breakfast, 1 with lunch, with occassional trips outside with my 1-hitter. When I go home, I smoke most of the night. Basically, I've been pleased with my days:thumbsup:
I gave 2 to a friend and he said they lasted for 5 hours and were fantastic when taken together. Then he asked for more

I use a black & decker coffee grinder. Run it for a couple of minutes and shake it to make sure it keeps hitting the blades. Basically powder by the time it's done. Just make sure to let it settle before opening it. Or you can run it for about 20 to 30 seconds and still have it in small chunks and scrape a huge amount of pollen off the lid. Not sure if it damages the glands heads or not, or whether that would matter for this preparation, but i like the results I've gotten.

is it necessary to have gelatin capsules or can i use vegetarian capsules as a substitute?
