Enjoying my first Hydro grow ...

so far, anyway ... had a couple early pH scares ... but, overall, the plants have done as good as expected, and a clone taken directly from the mother to the other hydro-pot, seems to be doing just fine ... lots of helpful info both from reading the Forums, and friends here ... thanks  ... I am enjoying this, after soil over and over, it's kinda cool to 'go back to school' to learn new stuff, makes it interesting again ... ...

Those are the ones transplanted from soil into hydro? My friend is considering that soon with an awesome soil plant he has.

yup, had two plants in soil for about 6 weeks, terribly stunted from light-bleaching ... the one was male, and has since disappeared :wtf: ... I took a cutting from the mother on the right, and planted it in the newly-empty pot ... strains differ, but mine doesn't seem to mind the changes one bit ... when I pulled the male from the pot, he already had good white roots growing after only 4 days in the hydroton ...

Reaper put a cup or a plate around that little scamper or those constantly wet leaves will burn....you can take it away when she's tall enough.

This is probably a good idea. I notice that when I put my babies in the clay pellets, wherever the leaves touch the hydroton they burn and die. I think this will happen if there is any nutrients in your system. I start them at 1/4 strength, and even that is enough to leave nutrients on the individual pellets. Even when they look dry there is usually a slight bit of moisture in them, and I think the new leaves just can't handle being in constant contact.

    Thanks for the compliment.

yeah, I have a clear bowl I occasionally put over it, was off for photo ... I purposely let it get soaking wet frequently, etc., and the clone is in full-strength nutes, too (I know this is 'wrong', it's a 'stress-test') ... I am 'stress-testing' to determine stability in my own personal hybrid (anytime I have a plant that's not growing 100%, I 'experimentally' abuse it, to learn more about it) ... if pro breeders did more of that, I think you'd see a lot less genetic weaknesses ... so far, nothing seems to be damaging to her, she is handling all the mistreatment I can 'accidentally' commit (she must have found out she is a WEED) ... I absolutely don't pretend to be a pro breeder, but I am a firm believer in strong stable genetics (must be from growing up around all that Illinois corn :jointsmile ... 'only the strong survive' ...
