Oh..I know the deal on clean cut..I do believe that helps with a lot of things..that is probably why I maintain it..

Hitchhiking illegal? Wow, that's the first I hear about that. Here it isn't illegal, but there are not that much hitchikers anymore in Belgium. Lots of people are affraid of riding along with others or taking others in their car. But if I see one, I'll take him/her along with me most of the time.

If you can find good transportation, even a network of potheads you can call to help each leg of the trip, it's a GREAT plan!

If you can get him to the I-264/I-64 Interchange, I can get him to my leg of the trip, from there.

Well he's starting out in Cali (which means he'll be going going back back to cali cali at some point.... )... Can't help ya with that leg. Call me when you hit the Berkshires to the west, the Green Mtns. to the north, or Jersey.
I still think the best/cheapest/most effective way would be on a Ninja 250... almost 70mpg highway... yet it's a REAL bike and therefore legal on a controlled-access highway... I got one you can take... lookin a little rough around the edges, and no odometer (bang on the tank to see if it needs gas), but runs like a top.
...just sayin...
