Do we really want it legalized???
alright...sorry if this is in the wrong forum...i was gonna put it in activism(sp?) but this is kinda...anti....
alright anyways do we really want to be legal in usa? As like most of you 5 minutes ago I would have said yes but than I thought about something. Wow makes money off marijuana now? Mostly peaceful hippies who grow there own plants.
Now if it was legalized the big tobacco companies I can ensure you will start selling all the marijuana. People who dont currently smoke marijuana will all buy it from a major tobacco company since they trust them more. Now weed will be cheaper and we will be able to grow it...but who is the one trurly profiting financial from this whole ordeal?
Were pretty much robbing the hippies in a strange sense.
Anyways...just a way you could view it. :hippy:Rad Plane Reviewed by Rad Plane on . Big companies would undoubtably profit from mass produced MJ, but they would not be able to produce the same quality as small home town growers. There would still be profit to be made from high quality, organic, geade A MJ.
Also, people would be able to openly breed MJ, and produce better strains, as well as better preserve current strains. People could also research and develop new ways to grow and process MJ which would be better for everyone.

Do you realize how much money the government makes off of tobacco each year? Billions, so you really think they are going to gi ve the right to the people to grow their own cannabis, making tobacco obsolete.
Oh you have much to learn.
If they let us grow a certain amount of plants each, that I would enjoy, but I know they would package and tax the shit out of cannabis while quality being low.

If they legalize it that takes alot of dealers off the streets, as well as the fact that they'd probably start pitching it as some miracle plant (like they did with tobbacco back in the 60's or whenever all that bs started), and i for one would like to see this plant put on a pedastl as opposed to the relentless demonizing of it thats found in our media today.

you're assuming that there is just one demographic that currently sells herb. I'm sure the black market retailers are just as diverse as any other legitimate market.
Legalization would benefit society to such a grand degree in terms of commercial hemp (paper, clothes, fuel, food, body products), that the few whose pockets would be effected would seem minor. If they were good at what they do, they'll continue to sell in a legal market. Legalization would increase quality, since there would be more competition and no one would tolerate shwaggy weed.
Look at amsterdam, they have dope legal shit, plus there are still guys on the street selling it.
I think all drugs should be legalized; all the ~$80 billion a year that goes out of the country to fund drug habits could be retained by the U.S. if there would legal drug merchants (a lot of that money funds terrorist groups).
To say that the nice guys making money from illegal herb now is a consideration to avoid legalization is kinda consistent with the special interests that washington considers in passing laws.

I look at it this way. If it was legalized, even if they didn't legalize personal growing, the penalties for small grows would be greatly decreased. I would risk it even more if the only thing that would happen would be a fine...

we should be aiming for decriminalization not legalization. That way we could grow and smoke our own without much to fear but maybe a fine while this could entirely prevent it becoming an industry though.
