Savings bonds. I've gotten some useless stuff as presents, but never anything as dumb as a savings bond. I used to get them all the time when I was a kid, I always thought it was a check for my parents.... Now I'm 18 and can actually use them, but it seems they disappeared off the face of the earth. And I'm sure there was about $200 or more of those things, too.
