You can keep mothers in hydro or dirt, it doesn't matter. Many people like dirt and fluoros, because it's easy to grow slow growing plants that way. Mold should not be a problem unless you have improper ventilation, either way, soil or hydro.

If some of your roots are in mid air they are getting oxygen, and if you put bubbles in your system you are putting oxygen into the water, which the plants really like. They need oxygen, so if you suffocate them, like drown the roots all the way up to the plant, and leave them in stagnant water, they will die.
Yes, I think it is OK that you are using a turkey baster. I also think however, that if you are going to use a drip system to keep the roots moist, then you ought to do it automatically with a timer and some 1/4" line or something.

Looks like that air stone is making some nice fine bubbles. It's hard to tell if you fried them or starved them without knowing what ppm your solution is. For those littlest ones, you probably want less than 600ppm. For those bigger ones, I should think they could handle twice that. Remember when you increase food, do it slowly and in stages so that you can watch for any signs of nute burn.

That's pretty cool that the seed germinated after breaking in half. I've never heard of that before. If it sprouted, it should be OK provided it is properly taken care of.

It is common for some from the same batch to grow bigger than the others. I think it has mainly to do with how big of a root mass they get in the first week or two. You may want to take cuttings of the fastest growing/biggest ones and clone these for a mother or two.

Growth seems about right. Shorter bushier plants are usually indica.

It looks like you kinda are getting the hang of it, and getting a feel for what needs to happen in hydro. Keep up the good work and you will soon be smoking your own creation.

My ppms last week were 750 then last night I bumped it up to like 830 or so. At what intervals with regards to ppms are you thinkin.
I also think I read on here that some like to push the pant(s) max and just burn the very tips on the fan leaves then back off a hair. How long (in hours) would you guestimate you would notice this in the plant?
Thanks B

I think for a plant that size you are doing it about right. Here's my schedule, but remember I figured this out after a couple harvests of experimenting to find the right amount. Yours could be different. Also my well water starts with 260 ppm before I add anything.

week 3: At the start of week 3 the plants come out of the cloner and go into the system. I pull the light at least 3 feet back for my 600W, or 2 1/2 feet for my 400 watt (Also decided through experimentation). My ppm goes up to 650. During the few times I grow from seed and in dirt, at week three I go to about 400 instead, and lower the other weeks ppm a little too.
week 4: ppm = 1000
week 5: ppm = 1200
week 6 through harvest: ppm = 1450
Yes, a good way to find out exactly how much food your plants want is to keep increasing slowly, maybe 50 or 100 ppm at a time. Keep doing so until you notice the first signs of nute stress, which is yellowing on the tips and leaf edges, then back it off 50 or 100 ppm. Make sure you take special note of the recipes, so you only have to go through it once. It's kind of a pain.
And Cyclonite is correct. You should start seeing signs of stress in about 24 hours, give or take.
Check this out, it might give you some ideas:
