You said i don't need the roots in the water so they aren't .. ...SO, are you sure the plants are getting enough oxygen from just the bubbles?

For fear that the roots might suffocate or not be moist enough i've taken a turkey baster and put some of hte water out of their buckets and drip from top a couple times a day..think that is ok?
You can keep mothers in hydro or dirt, it doesn't matter. Many people like dirt and fluoros, because it's easy to grow slow growing plants that way. Mold should not be a problem unless you have improper ventilation, either way, soil or hydro.

I said roots don't need to be in water, but they do need moisture from something, be it you with a turkey baster, a drip system, bubbles popping and splashing on the roots (like a cheapo aerocloner). I didn't say not to water your plants. I'm not sure what you mean by getting enough oxygen from the bubbles. If some of your roots are in mid air they are getting oxygen, and if you put bubbles in your system you are putting oxygen into the water, which the plants really like. They need oxygen, so if you suffocate them, like drown the roots all the way up to the plant, and leave them in stagnant water, they will die.

Yes, I think it is OK that you are using a turkey baster. I also think however, that if you are going to use a drip system to keep the roots moist, then you ought to do it automatically with a timer and some 1/4" line or something.
