nft Reviewed by nft on 11-15-2007. HELP! I don't think my Volcano is getting me high... Hey everyone, Long time browser, first time poster. So me and a friend after much research decided to go in on the holy grail of smoking devices, the Digital Volcano. So we got it on Tuesday and set it up filled a few bags and hit away with gleeful anticipation of the best high EVER.....needless to say we were underwhelmed. Did some research yesterday and tried a few other things over the course of 15ish bags but I still was not experiencing what I had read about which leads me to Rating: 5

We got the digital one so I'm sure about the temperatures that we are trying, we've tried everything that we have been reading with no luck. We are definetely NOT happy campers.

Think its worth emailing the company to see if maybe its not heating up enough or something? Thats the last thing I can think of (after trying out oliwog's advice that is)

no not 5 grams you jus grind up the vapourized weed an do it again
one bag is not enough to vapourize all the goodness my bags are nearly a metre tall i use about a gram a time an get 2 bags from it

I have to add a little input here I haven't tried the digital Volcano but have the standard version no matter. I have a variety of vapes and they all have redeeming qualities. Oliwog is dead on in the operation optimum vaping temp is around 370 degrees or about 178 to 181 celcius depending on the vape. What I have found is that with vaporizing you don't get that fog that comes from the combustion process unfortunately that fog is a side of effect of the combustion not our friends THC and canaboids. What I would suggests is this, for the next week just vape no smoking of the herb. You need to adjust to what a clean high is all about. Now after a week smoke a big fatty of the same weed and then you will see if you are a true vape person, that joint will not be what your looking for. Some people I have found just do not receive the high they are looking for from vaporizing. But I tried it and now I'll smoke a joint to be polite if someone offers but if you really want a superior cleaner high, stick with the Volcano or try out a whip model they are cheaper and just as effective. And if all else fails I'll give you $250.00 I can never have enough vapes.

Cool, thanks for the advice. I am starting to think maybe the vape high just isn't for me, who knows. The issues we are having with the Volcano is starting to sully weed for me a bit. That sounds like an interesting idea though, try vaping only for a whole week I might have to try that next week (I know I won't be able to stick to that during Thanksgiving week :joint1

And again thanks for the purchase offer but if we do sell it won't be for $250 .....after all we did drop $670 on this thing

if your noyt getting any heat from it then contact storz an bickel
as its got a 3 yr warrenty
otherwise jus do what i do an make a bag thats bout 60-70cm long an fill up with a gram of nicely ground dry weed on temp 180c fill up bag once an do whole bag per person then revap the herb after grinding again as i said i get 2 bags out of a gram an my bags are jus under a metre long 70-80cm if yourt seeing any vapour then somethings wrtong either with the weed or the vap i dont think its a case of being a vap person everyone i know who has tried my volcano has never had a vap before an are usually all day tokers they seem to get well high an dont even have a whole bag to themselves an they love it
so check to make sure that when you press the green button for air that air actually comes out an make sure its hot
you have to actually put your hands over the volcano
dont worry it wont burn you ( well not straight away)
if its not hot or theres no air then its faulty an you should send it back an get another one

I bought the Volcano about 3 years ago and had similar problems getting stoned. However, I did not read the instructions and put the thing away. Maybe I'll take it out and try it again.

I never ground up the bud before putting it into the Volcano.
I never put the chamber on without the bag
I never had the chamber on alone and turned it on with the weed
in the chamber, letting it "breathe" for a few seconds seeing the
"THC" start coming out and then put the bag on.

I'll try it this way and report back

Hey, one thing that I have found that works well if your stuff is dry is to spray it with a mister before loading it. It seems to help the vaporization process. Even helps with moist kind.

I find that sometimes you have to bump up the temp on the unit to something a little higher to get the effect you may be looking for.

It's a personal preference thing, and it works better for me that way. I have the analog one and I roll around 7.5-8.5 depending on strain.

I pretty much despise smoking anymore, and the air is so dry and cold here now that the irritants to the bronchi from the smoke make me cough all winter long, so I try to avoid it.

Listen to some of the other advice above, grinding the herb is important, maximum surface area is key.

And when it starts to fade, regrind it. It'll be much more brittle and brake up very fine. You'll pull an extra few bags out of it with that...
