Are you fed up with religion in general?

I've seen so many posts about Jesus, blah blah blah, that I have to post one from the other side.

    I am an atheist.

I am an atheist because the religions seem like they're a pile of BS. Except for ones like Buddhism. Buddhism is cool.

I am fed up with Christians, because they are so convinced in their right that it is disgusting. And they try to force it on me. When I tell them I've heard all of their arguments and they can not convert me they tell me I will go to hell. AND that god loves me.

I am fed up with Christians, because they are the majority of the voters, and I have to suffer b/c of them. Seperation of church and state??? It doesn't work.

Yet so many people are Christians, that I completely try to ignore that out of people I know. I never bring up religion.

Things I hear from Christians: "Have faith" Ummm... since when is faith good. You seem to pride yourself on the fact that you draw extended conclusions on evidence which never existed. Wait, how often were Christians right when their beliefs conflicted with science? NEVER? Yes that's the right answer. Now here's something noone ever brings up. Virgin Mary. Scientifically is it possible that she was a virgin? no. AND SHE HAD A BOYFRIEND TOO LOL.

Something else I hear from Christians: "Science can not answer everything" That is correct. BUT at least what it answers is correct. And then I hear, well "How was the universe created?" I can answer that. Who gives a shit. We are just humans, why would we even need to know that. What difference would it make if we knew? Nothing.

And why is evolution so hard to believe? I can prove evolution in my fishtank if you want by showing you how the traits of the fish in new generations will change due to changing circumstances.

I could go on forever, but I think this is enough.

And if you are going to try to refute what I said. Stay in reality please. Trying to prove your beliefs by evidence that only exists in your belief does not work.

hard to say... to me there are two classes of christians..... A. the ones who are constantly talking about god, and are always trying to convert people.... B. the ones who realize everyone has a right to make up their own mind and stay the fuck outta other's buisness.... they realize the boundary and respect it instead of tearing it down in an effort to change you to their will/desire.

i'm always fed up with A.... can't stand A, want to kill A even.... B doesn't bother me at all.... i don't believe, and you do, if we can leave it at that we're cool.

Christians don't want no "Free Thunkers".All religions just want drones to come and tithe so they can spread their bigotry and hate around a little more.

So Jesus would come to your town and have his desciples knock on your door to tell you Jesus was coming to talk about his Father in Heaven God and Heal people, and when Jesus started talking about his father you would Kill him?

Religion has been a constant source of amusement for me , even though I do believe fanatics of any description are in need of psychiatric help.
George Bush and his Christianity crusade is as fucked up as any extremist Muslim Jihad.

IMO Religion is a form of insanity .

I have respect for those who choose a peaceful life with social ethics and if a persons "belief" makes them a better person insofar as they don't lie, don't steal and don't sit in judgement , then that's fine by me.
I am an out and out aetheist but I don't feel the need to prove that peoples faith is misplaced , I'm happy for them if it gives them comfort to believe .
    Each to thier own.

that's a non sequitur if I've ever seen one. Did he bash Jesus at all? no, it was christians to whom his remarks were directed. If jesus did come proselyting, the first people he would reprove are the ones who vainly use his name for false-pacification and cynical agendas. I think Jesus is the ultimate mentor, and ought to be emulated rather than exploited. It's like ghandi said "I like your Christ; I do not like your christians."

"christians" need to worry a lot less about what others are doing and focus on doing what Jesus instructed them to do.

"when thou art converted, strengthen they brethren" Luke 22:32

only, conversion is not an isolated, cure-all event. Since Jesus taught "be ye therfore perfect, even as I am perfect" (Matt. 5:48)
true conversion will take a lifetime, and no christian ought to be so conceited as to think they need to bring "good news" to to lesser souls, unless they cleanse their own inward vessel, which is an ETERNAL process.

Point was is, Following Jesus is doing what he did, and guess what he did? He talked about god to other people from city to city. He even asked people to follow him and disown themself and do the same thing. Acts 4 18-20 talks about this same sort of thing and what peter and john said. Matthew 28 19-20 talks about how we need to go therefore and make disciples of all the peoples of all the nations.

Jesus would be mad at most christians today, look at what type of image they have given the Bible. Seriously look at the crusades. Even the cross is a idol. God hates Idols. Most religions out there do want Non thinking Sheep that don't even look at there holy writeings

I think ill have to quote Ghandi here.

"I don't hate your Christ, i love your Christ. It is just that so few of you christians are like your Christ."

I believe that everyone has the right to believe whatever they want to believe. However i do also believe that religion has been the justification for some of the most heinous acts in the history of the world, and that it continues to do so to this day. So many "holy wars" have been waged for a certain god , and i find the entire concept of a "holy war" foolish, because every "holy war" that I've ever seen waged was waged by the disciples of a specific god and not by said god him/herself.

the issue was never the importance of making disciples of all nations, it was the manner in which it is done. a christian is supposed to be a disciple before making a disciple of another, but most tend to do it with overt exclamations of Christ's majesty and veracity, rather than emulating a projection of the savior in their daily lives, to attract the honest-at-heart with extraordinary, understated and humble acts. that method is much more effective and gives christianity a better image to others.
