Pollen can last for years if properly cared for. It certainly can last a month in your grow area. You got to scrub it down with bleach if you think it may be a concern.

It's a good idea to thoroughly clean & disinfect your grow room after each and every operation. Along with lingering pollen, you also have to worry about mold, pests, and other unsanitary conditions that could potentially infect/attack your next crop.

Just remember that old clichéd, but relevant, adage:

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

That is unless your grow area is immaculate and perfect, like most peoples.

I've seen some pretty disgusting grow rooms in my time, and I don't really think it's because the grower is necessarily careless, but because there are all sorts of variables that can contribute to a dirty room. Spillage or runoff, for instance, when not noticed right away has the tendency to dry and leave a residual, flaky substance behind. Also, while not clearly visible to the naked eye, plants expire moisture through their leaves, which can lead to humidity & mold...along with saturated pots, buckets of standing water, etc.

I wasn't trying to make excuses for someone to let a growroom become nasty, I simply meant that there are sometimes unforeseen circumstances that can lead to a mess. And sometimes they're hard to notice until after you've cleaned up the pots, reservoirs, etc., and moved them out of the room.

No matter how immaculate I try to keep my area, I still always end up making at least a little bit of a mess that usually isn't noticed until after the harvest. It's still not a bad idea to clean and disinfect the grow area after each use...if for nothing else, than to keep things even more sanitary and pleasing to the eye.

You brought up a good point, nevertheless.

Actually, I was trying to be sarcastic and funny. I guess it didn't work.

My grow area is usually far from immaculate. In fact you could say that it is usually messy. I have a feeling that most peoples' rooms are like this, but maybe I'm the only one.

I thoroughly agree with the ounce of prevention thing.

Oops! My bad for not sensing your sarcasm!

I guess I've been spending too much time in the Spirituality section, where I'm constantly having to stay on my guard. Also, I'm totally drugged-up on antibiotics, OTC medication, and a weird steroid-inhaler that makes my heart race like mad. Needless to say, I'm not exactly in the most coherent state of mind.

But don't worry, you're definitely not the only one! I was basically just backtracking when I replied earlier. I do try to keep my growroom clean, but sometimes (especially after spending hours in there watering, testing pH, mixing fertilizers, etc., etc., etc.) I simply don't have the patience to vacuum up a pile of soil that got knocked out of a pot, and because I keep all of my electronic gizmo's off of the ground, I'm sometimes careless about cleaning up spills right away.

So, I guess I should say that I'm happy that I'm not the only one!
