    COCO question on watering

for coco, yes actually your mate is correct. It's a hydroponic method essentially.
You can't predict their water use, it depends on temp, %RH, and the size and number of the plants.

    COCO question on watering

I use coco a lot and buy it by the tonne. You may not necessarily have to water every day depending on how much you watered previously; the stage of the plants growth cycle; the size of the plants; the root development etc.

I use 6.5L post for an entire bloom cycle and half L pots for vegging. I transplant only once. After moving the root bound clones to 6.5L pots (with 1L of Clay Pebbles to aid drainage) I water only 500-750mL every other day for the first week to two weeks.

Once the plants become established in their 6.5L pots they seldom need 1L daily. I find 1L every other day, sometimes every 3rd day is ample.

To note: I do have trays beneath my pot arrays to catch run-off.

Usually up to week 5 or 6 the plants begin to require daily attention, but this doesn't last longer than 10 days in my experience.

If I doubled the size of my pots, I'd apply 2L instead of one and still follow the same pattern. Even my biggest 5 feet tall G-13s loved this method as well as my short ass sensi stars and chubby chronics.

I now use 15L buckets and that method is still applied. My choice of medium is Canna Coco and sometimes B'Cuzz.

My room humidity is usually low and the temperatures are often at the upper end of the required boundary.

But of course this isn't a text book answer to your question!

    COCO question on watering

    Hmmmm... interesting feeding regimen home.grower.

I'm using coco in #3 and #5 pots and I'm feeding twice a day in flower. I know a guy that waters his coco five times every day.

For awhile after transplants I'll go up to 2 days between waterings to encourage root growth, but that only lasts for a week or two.

My White Widows in a ScrOG are currently using about 1.5 liters per day.
