Welcome! Although hydro gives greater quantity, I prefer soil. It is far simpler and no hassling about parts per million, slime on the roots and all that jazz! Just read the hydro section and compare it with the soil section.

Rubber maid tubs make nice grow tubs, but Dollar Store waste baskets with a hole drilled in the bottom work fine. Don't use Miracle Grow, get a good brand of potting soil. Add earth worms and mycorrhyza (or however it's spelled- run a search here) to the soil. More light is better. Grow as organically as possible. Put CFLs in all the lights in the house to avoid a power bill spike when you start your grow. Don't tell anyone. Read a lot! Have fun!- Granny:hippy:
