so the trail is about 250 miles long?

yes up over 10000 feet
it gets cold.
a good down jacket and a beanie and gloves and youll be straight
north face "NUPTSE" jacket is good like 150.00 on sale
the trail is easy.the hard part is getting away from yourself
kids,work,comforts,......all that shit must be left behind [sort of]
all day long all you do is think and walk and smoke and take pictures
something very i guess you could say spiritual about being thirsty
i mean real real down to your core thirsty
thne you find water and it tastes so sweet and you can feel
it traveling thru your body and you turn and look and a deer
is doing the same shit as you.....kind of humbling ...you feel a connection
from what i learned last attempt
im not taking much...no books,no extra clothes,
you hardly eat as much as you imagine you would
peanuts and raisins help out alot
gatorade mix sucks compared to propel
if you can start hiking by 6am at 2mph by 12pm youd have 12 miles
done and can hike more or have time to explore the area [climb peaks]
im going again and it would be fun if this did turn out
i did it solo and i seen a lot of groups having fun

yeah man i just got a new GoLite pack for this years hiking. the thing is amazing.
and for any new hikers out there that are thinking about coming, you really don't need to bring a tent unless you feel like you would be more comfortable\feel safer.
you can buy tarps that you can hook up to a couple trees for cheaper than a tent and my opinion they are a lot more relaxing too. just something about being exposed through the whole night really appeals to me. the most important thing though, if you dont bring a tent, is that you have a sleeping bag that is going to keep you warm.

Trail Journals 2007 : Backpacking and Hiking Journals
you can read journals from other hikers who finished the trail
gives you a good idea on what you are getting into
the trail is 222 miles from yosemite to mt.whitney
i was thinking of driving to whitney area and parking the car
then either taking another car up to yosemite or take the bus
