Lets try this, I need the manufacture name, if a majoir manufacture there is a model number on the box. (ex. 400/mh/eco)

This will help alot then I can tell you everything about the bulbs.
Mine is a Sylvania GroLux. There's not a lot of info on the box:

    GroLux 400W

    HIGH PRESSURE SODIUM
    Made in Belgium

    Code 0020807

    E40

    bar code: 5 41 0288 208077

The bulb is advertised by Sylvania as being the only bulb designed specifically for growing. It is a full spectrum bulb. Dual spectrum doesn't really make much sense, I think Wheatie might have got terms confused because I'm pretty sure we are talking about the same bulb.

    Thank you for that info.

I did find the bulb specs and both are 21k, meaning they will not work well for vegitating plants. So don't be fooled into thinking you can use these bulbs in place of a metal halide lamp.

What the heck are you talking about? What is 21k supposed to refer to?

Wheatie never asked about vegging. The question was which bulb is better for flowering.

If you have some special insight about bulbs, great. But if you just want to post nonsense that has nothing to do with the question asked, please don't bother others (especially me) with silly questions that require time and effort to answer. I've got better things to do with my time than transcribe boxes for someone who then simply restates the obvious.

    Pharmacam.

I am trying to keep my cool and not post something that will get me tossed out by your comment.

21k is 21000 kelvins this is the color of the light produced from the bulb which is in the red spectrum. The proffesion I do involves dealing with all different types of lighting and electrical designs and trouble shooting. As for wasting your time I spent a good hour or more looking thru catalogs and on line to find these bulbs in order to give accurate information.
When Wheaty said duel spectrum it made it sound like this bulb was designed for both stages of growth. I want to make sure that was not the case before I tell you and others not to buy this bulb thinking it can be used for both stages of growth and get the same results as using a MH bulb because you will not. These bulbs are designed with some added blue light to help with photosynthisis during flowering and are probably your best choice for the flowering cycle. As for which of the 2 is better I would go with the Sylvania Grolux due to brand name and reputation as a quality lighting provider.

Well, Jerry, blue light is 2,100 Kelvin - not 21k or 21,000k.
An explination of Kelvin Temperature and where our 5500K Life-Lite lamps measure on the Kelvin Temperature scale

While your intentions may have been good, your information, or at least the way you wrote it, was not accurate. ...and the only thing I have to go by is what you wrote, isn't it?

21,000K would be wayyyyy blue. I used to be into growing coral, and I'd use metal halide bulbs in that spectrum for growing lots of stony colonies. They aren't even that great of bulbs IMO, I used them to flouresce corals without supplemental actinic lighting.
