i think next year decides the charlie weis era. he did much more with willingham's players, but his own recruits have started off slow. i hope sharpley is the starter next year, and clausen shines as a junior. he clearly is not ready yet. no freshmen could play behind that offensive line. and i sure hope armando allen lives up to the potential he says he has.

i think its a rebuilding year and charlie needs to admit it!! We have the #1 recruiting class for 2008. Yes Clausen has to adjust to the speed, I think we will do fine, just have to get through this year:thumbsup:

Yeah i agree, it could end now, they need to really hit it hard during the offseason and figure out who and what kind of team they are going to be..I guess we needed a year like this to set us straight. Whether they win or lose they are still my team, so here is to next year...GO IRISH:thumbsup:

Next year may be the deciding year for Weis and ND, but they gave him a 10 year extension after not really accomplishing anything, so ND will be stuck with him for a while no matter how it turns out.
I really don't like the idea of bringing NFL assistants down to be the head coaches of college football teams. Most, not all, but most of those coaches view college football as semi retirement. Truth be told, college football is a lot more work than the pros. The pros have a draft. You want a guy, you pick him. Other than getting the contract worked out which the coach doesn't have a whole lot to do with anyway, there's very little that a head coach has to do to build the team he wants. In college, you have to get out there and recruit your ass off. ND may have the #1 rated recruiting class right now, but there are a lot of biases that go into those rankings.
ND is very high up there on my list of teams I love to hate. And this season is the reason why. ND is going to win 1 game this year, but they'll be in all of the preseason polls for next year.

ND was a fourth down play from winning that game with a minute or so to go. and a heart-filled run by leinart in the end. so dont try to tell me weis hasnt done anything.

He hasn't proven ANYTHING and he doesn't deserve to be where he is at (head coach at Notre Dame....Notre Dame people, getting paid millions) He was an assistant in the NFL, big f'ing deal, I don't believe he ever even played college football.
