getting stealthier..
i've switched my lights to 12/12 they go off at 9 am and back on at 9pm. but my exhaust fan is really loud
my question is...
can i put my exhaust on a timer as well so that during the day( or nightime if your the plant), the exhaust is off but the intakes stay on?
will this slow or speed up flowering?
could it decrease yeilds?wman44 Reviewed by wman44 on . getting stealthier.. i've switched my lights to 12/12 they go off at 9 am and back on at 9pm. but my exhaust fan is really loud my question is... can i put my exhaust on a timer as well so that during the day( or nightime if your the plant), the exhaust is off but the intakes stay on? will this slow or speed up flowering? could it decrease yeilds? I shut my bud room tight during their dark period. I have not seen any problems from it.

Ive always wondered about this concept as well. Whether or not there is a gas exchange during the Kreb cycle "dark stage". Ok obviously the most signifgant gas exchange is during the light period(photsynthesis) but if its important to have refreshed air during dark.

First gas exchange. LIGHTING OFF: no exchange of gasses or growth occurs. basically the plant goes to sleep.
The main reason for ventalation during lighting off is humidity control. this is usually not needed unless your growing area is in a basement or other humid area.

I would suspect that if your have just the intake going you will create a positive pressure situation and some smelly air will get past your exhaust filter. This may or may not be a problem for you.

the intake air is coming from an adjacent room...i cut a hole through the wall.
based on what im hearing i think ill put a timer on the fan
the s.o.b is really loud
its a small blower type fan...kinda looks like a turbo charger for a car. its hanging from a bar overhead so all the noise is coming from the moving air
eventually im gonna get a can fan with a filter.
currently i just mask the odor with nag champa and superhit

Dynamat is a great tool for damping vibration and reducing overall cabinet noise. You can put it on equipment and the cabinet itself to help kill the cabinet hum.

i folded like six towels and rest my blower on top of it. the only thing making noise now is the air in the duct. it is still kinda loud though.
