why clone only?
can someone explain to me why some strains are clone only?.i'm presuming a mother is cloned to such an extent that the males are lost due to time and noone wanting them but a mother can still produce feminized seeds whe hermed,so why are some strains clone only?tx

why clone only?
The origin of a clone-only strain is by definition shrouded in a bit of mystery. Either the male or both parents is unknown, or it's a REALLY odd phenotype, that simply can't be replicated.

why clone only?
the 'feminized' approach wasn't even considered, years ago, because that type of 'in-breeding' isn't a good thing, genetically ... any hog farmer can explain why inbreeding is bad (OK, so it's a weird example :jointsmile
... but, today, everything is about 'now', (I want it all, and want it 'now') ... so, for sake of convenience, some growers (cashgrowers, particularly) are more concerned about a fast crop, without waiting for sexing ... be assured, seeds aren't produced by the hermie-method to improve the strain

because the genetics cannot be brought to seed. a good example is apples. all apples such as red delicious are clones. if you take the seeds from any apple you will not grow that kind of apple you ill end up with crab apples most likly. the reason is because of the number of apples that were crossed to get a specific kind of apple that you have no idea what gentics will be passed to the seed. this is even true if you polinate the same species of apples together. all apples trees are clones for this reason. and now that there has been so much cross breeding in differrant strains of cannabis the same is happening. its hard to understand but when you cross breed 200 differant types of any plant to make a new strain, the ganetics are so unstable that the plant cannot replicate itself even if there is a male and a female bred together.

why clone only?
that reminds me after growin a set of blueberrys one was REALLY GOOD,my intention was to harvest then veg, then clone and herm the poor girl to get some seeds.so y'all saying that its highly unlikely the seeds will produce a plant of the same quality?

reveg your best female- this could take up to 2 months- little to no food, good blue flourescent light, a bit of superthrive, DON'T overwater- and take clones when you see enough fresh growth to take some off without harming the plant, in case the clones don't 'take'.

oh goddes of ganja!.i fancy some seeds,is it best to let my best girl be violated by a male and just grow the resulting seeds and get rid of males,or try and herm my best lady after first harvest and get feminized seeds,i'm growin in a loft so i cant have more than 9 plants at a time(i'm on 4 bLueberry 5 northern lights at the mo).growin just to see unkown is'nt an option thats why i wanted fem seeds in case of emergencys.you think its a good idea (my NL are un sexed)to let them all get jiggey and see what the seeds are like if my lady get polinated?.tx
