Using a socket for a bowl...

I've been reading some threads on this forum about using sockets (the one's you attach to ratchets) for a pipe bowl. Is this safe? And won't I need a screen, or is the hole small enough?

New studies might be conducted later but, as of now, they are safe. You will probably need to cut out a small square from a screen. I just use a small piece of gravel though.
