Do you know why that is? What would be the difference if a timer turned on a switch or a human did? The problem fluoros have been plugged into a timer, but it's set to "on", not "auto", which means the lights don't go out, and current is flowing through the timer 24 hr, and it's only interrupted if there is a power outage. I've had no problems with CFLs on timers.

i am not sure, but i think the current flowing through them while off was supposed to be a problem. i cant remember where i read that at. it doesnt sound like your problem though if they are on all of the time. the pkg of cfls say right on it that they arent meant for timers or dimmers, mine did anyway.
