Do you remember how many plants you had in the sea of green pic under 1 600 watt hps? and also do the side budz get any light or you just consentrate on the top budz in the sea of green method? Ollie

There were actually 2 600 watt digital Lumatek HPS lights in there. Both were aircooled by a single 8" 700cfm fan. The most I pulled out of the closet was 2.5 pounds of prime bud.

There were 30 plants packed in there, each in a square 3 gallon pot with 60% Ocean Forest and 40% Perlite. 15 plants per 600 watts. Each plant yielded about 1.25 ounces. When doing the SOG method like that, you are really going for big buds instead of a lot of smaller ones. We topped our plants a few times in the beginning which bushed them out. Each plant had about 6-7 nice sized buds. Anything that was more then 6" below the canopy really did not get any light.

With SOG like that, I trim out alot of the inside and bottom of the plants for better airflow and circulation and also to concentrate energy on the upper part of the plant instead of wasting it on things that will never see light.

However, the buds against the walls on the outskirts of the lights yielded the same as the plants right under the light. Let me also mention that watering 30 tightly packed plants is really annoying, and I now use less perlite, only about 20% perlite (since Ocean Forest already has 10% perlite in it) and that helps keep more moisture.

While my focus is hydro, I sometimes end up with a ton of extra clones and I really done have the heart to throw them away, so into the 1 gallon pots they go. These 65 plants are Grapefruit and Purple Kush. No nutrients, just water. Under a 750 digital HPS.
