I don't drive while high because I know I drive very slow because it feels like I'm actually going too fast. Then I get paranoid because I feel like people can tell that I'm driving slow because I'm stoned, and every cop car I pass makes my heart race. I'd rather smoke and hang out for a while letting my buzz mellow down a bit instead of ruining my high with that scene. I've known friends who drive for shit when stoned and others who drive normally. I'm one of the ones who just can't pull it off so I choose to play it safe.

Depends on what kind of weed you get and how much you smoke. A debilitating indica will be harder to drive on than a nice uplifting sativa. Or if you're so high you're hearing and seeing shit... not a good idea to drive. Being drunk+high is not a good idea either.

I personally drive a lot and don't mind lighting up while on long stretches of interstate at night. I smoke a strain that gives me a really alert, clear headed high. As long as you don't overdo it you'll be ok, and you can't be conspicuous about it.

Just a few days ago I was going down the road and come up on some ass who is driving way under the limit. There's a green light ahead, and I want to make it, but this guy is just crawling along and we catch the red. At the light I realize it is not some old dude, it's four young guys. The light turns green, and we enter a semi-confusing construction zone where they have temporarily moved two left-turn lanes over from where they used to be. Instead of picking one or the other, he coasts right down the middle for a ways at super slow speed, so now he is blocking two lanes of traffic, not just one. At some point he realized he is in the middle of two lanes and pulled into the right one. At the next light the left lane is nearly empty, and the one he is in is not moving and cars start passing by in the left. At some point he decides he is going to pop into that left lane and it is right in front of someone who has to jam on his brakes! That freaks him out, so he jerks back and nearly hits another car! Now both lanes are moving, and while he's going around the left turn he drifts from his lane back into the other one, again! Now we are on a three lane road, he's still drifting along under the limit, and I decide I want to get around this bastard, so I pull into the lane to his right, and as I pass by I keep a good eye on him. All four of them looked totally blazed, and the front passenger was crouched down smoking as I went by! Who knows what else they had going on --- maybe the driver was drunk too, so maybe it wasn't just weed. But I remember from years ago things like stopping at a stop sign then just waiting and waitng, wondring when the light would change, then realizing, "Oh shit, this isn't a light, it's never going to change!" Things like that are not safe.

Your friend should drive high more often, that way he can get used to it and not run stop signs..
