Tobacco Plants
I live in a hardcore tobacco-producing area- Connecticut valley shade-grown leaf comes from around here. It grows in rich floodplain soil and the farmers stretch gauze shade-cloth over the crops to keep the leaves from getting scorched and tough. This is premium rolling leaf for the cigar trade. I believe flower spikes have to be removed- that's something you'd want to look up. It's susceptible to mosaic virus. You may not have that problem since you are more than likely growing in a spot where tobacco has never been grown before.
foxysox Reviewed by foxysox on . Tobacco Plants I was just wondering if anyone on the boards has grown tobacco plants? I would think the majority of people here would have no interest, but I thought I would ask. I'm hopfully getting a mortgage and a new house soon so I may try growing some tobacco in the garden just for the sake of it. I'd rather smoke my own than buy it, so why not? Some general discussion about it would be good. (Please stear clear if you are just going to hate on tobacco, spare me the lecture ) Rating: 5
