    Bumping?

I have kind of a comment about that. Bumping year old posts in kind of annoying when you jump on it only to notice later it's old. I've complained about it. But searching will do just that. Telling people to search but then complaining about bumping old posts is kind of talking out of both sides of your mouth. But like I said, I'm guilty of bitching, but which is better?

    Bumping?

There aren't many things in life that are just black and white. Nearly everything has a "gray" section. This is one of those "gray" area topics. I'm sure you could do either, and probably get bitched at for either one.

Bump a thread that is 3 years old. Hell, if there are multiple people trying to find threads one one certain topic/s; then why not bump it to the forefront?

Trying to find something for yourself? Bumping something a year old for a random response to a year old question might be a little different....

    IMO at least.....

    Bumping?

I generally find myself hoping people will search relatively recent posts rather than bump/resurrect old ones. I find the resurrected ones annoying, too, particularly since the boards have undergone ownership and rules changes in the last year and a half, which means that resurrected threads older than than that nearly always have to be deleted anyway. They inevitably contain comments, email addresses, insults or some sort of content we come down harder on these days.

If you watch very closely, you'll sometimes notice that threads get re-activated/bumped by people with new identities who posted on the original thread with a different member name that was banned. We've caught several poser-returnees this way and I'm sure will continue to.
