Dean lashes out at GOP over health plan
WASHINGTON - Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean on Saturday criticized Republicans in Congress for not supporting legislation to expand a popular children's health care program.
"The Republican leaders have made their choice. They want to stay in Iraq and deny our kids health care," Dean said in the party's weekly radio address.

I actually agree with the Republicans on this one. If I remember correctly, the bill seeks to increase coverate to kids with an anual family income of $80,000 (from, I think,$50,000 or $60,000, can somebody help me on this?). Nancy Pelosi keeps touting "how can they oppose medicare for kids?" It's a gross over-simplification that gives the vauge and fuzzy image of "kids" rather than specifying the nuts and bolts. I'd rather have more coverage provided to those already in the prior lower-income bracket than help out the upper-middleclass that won't be able to make their trip to the Bahama's this year if a medical crisis comes up.

I'm not a tobacco smoker myself, so this wouldn't effect me. However, America was founded as a constitutional republic. Kids deserve free healthcare. However, turning this country into a socialist cesspit (which it sadly has become) is not the answer.
