i like hiroshi's idea. find anything you can cut energy down on........maybe use cfls in your non growing sockets, wear sweaters...wash your clothes at a laundry mat......stuff like that

No TV or much CPU.
No lights on behind you.
BBQ
And this is my fav. Mock the fast flower of the "harvestmastercontroller" cut the days down to 20hour days and divider the time accordingly.
The theory is after 8 hrs of work humans are tired and so are plants after a good days amount of growth, so making your plants grow a full daylight amount makes them so tired that nighttime is rest time rather than transpire time. This is like going to bed sooooo tired and someone wants to wake you up early early in the morning, resulting in lame work or slow growth. So if you allow a perfect physical growth when night comes they want to go back to work and they become ambitious to grow so they are ready at first light and not groggy.
adjust your lighting power times.
Since you said dont say turn off everything I will say to significantly reduce your power bill is to "steal power from your neighbor"hehehehehe JK {thats how to get caught}

Power off your monitor while not in use.
CFL's everywhere.
Don't use electric cooking appliances(toaster ovens, ovens, MicWave).
I took the lights off my aquarium, Moved it in front a window.
I suddenly find myself reading more(not watching TV).
WeatherStrip every window/door.
Add more insulation.
As said before, LightCycle accuracy(12/12(F)-16/8(V))
Do not be fooled by claims that 24/0 Cycles improve growth.
Hope this helps.(MyBill $180/Mo)

i did simple stuff like changed all the regular bulbs to cfls (you cant imagine the wattage difference we have since),turn the computer, printers, speakers, etc, off when done, set sleep timers on the tv so its not watching me when im suppose to be watching it..after im sleep its on for nothing right?, stop running the a/c/heat(turned down) if were not home, etc. Just shut off stuff you arent using (sorry had to say it..LOL) at least enough to offset you added wattage with lights
:jointsmile::thumbsup:, you'll see a difference.

Change all bulbs to the smallest CFLs you can find
Put TV/Computer on power strip, shut the STRIP off when not in use
Do laundry elsewhere (this decreases your house's obvious power consumption but does not save $$$$)

80 bucks more huh?
My reccomendation is to grow more and then sell the excess to pay for it. I do not want to go into much detail but I have had many bills in the 4 digits...
Be happy that it is only 80 bux more.
