whats buggin me is that if we want to stop this and "nip it in the bud" why aint we threatoning the russians, the ones who are supplying the iranians? we see the iranians as just a much of a terrorist threat by supplying and helping the factions in iraq opossing us then wouldnt it be conclusive that russia be lumped into that catagory also?

They should be but since their already a nuclear power everyone has to walk on egg shells with the Russians. Since Iran backs Chechen rebels against Russia I can't see why their a supplier in the first place.

I would think Iran's only nuclear threat would be a small mobile nuclear device.This still needs to go through the UN. As fucked up as that would be. Put world sanctions on them to allow scientists in to prove whether they really are producing nuclear material.If they are then zero tolerance. Its destroyed imediately or we will take care of it.
But I'm not for just blowing them up because we think there's a weapon being built. We need FACTS.

About a month ago Russia refused to sell to Iran the fuel Iran needs for the new nuclear power plant the Russians just sold them. Apparently the two countries couldn't agree on how to control the spent fuel (which can be used to make bombs). So, at this point, Iran has a useless nuclear reactor that they paid Russia a few billion dollars to build for them.

Ultimately, something is going to have to be done about Iran's nuclear ambitions. It is a historic fact that sanctions worked against Iraq; not only by making Saddam comply with the WMD restrictions (lest we forget that, gee whiz, he was in compliance after all) but by reducing Iraq to economic ruin as well. However, unless the Iraqi oil fields are somehow miraculously brought into production, sanctions against Iran could have the potential for $150/barrel oil.

...gosh - I wonder why Saudi Arabia and all our other good buddies in the Gulf won't do anything about the problem. Could it be they are all salivating over the thought of even higher oil prices?

They're not even that far.

Their weapons program is still in it's infancy. That'll change in 5-10 years.

But I view these sanctions as meaningless. America has to cooperate with the rest of the world in such a matter. The values of due process has been flushed down the toilet in recent years.

We need to show evidence to show a compelling argument, and if it's justified we place sanctions, or go to war, we have evidence backing us up.

We live in a society where it's guilty until proven innocent. Everyday, the media spectulates on someones guilt without the assumption innocent until proven guilty. The whole process is fucked up in many ways.

We should not presume before we take such actions. It would've been smarter to present this case to the UN, so a strong message can be sent to Iran.

Instead we have US unilaterally doing this, and do you think it'd it'd give Iran pause?

Like sanctions will do any financial damage severe enough to pressure Iran into complying. Where there is a will, there is a way, and these guys are Persians for gods sake. Iran has lots of oil, which is a form of currency, and will trade with other nations anyway.

This tactic is just furthering the White House's plan to invade Iran.
But I do agree with this one though, I am a Jew and support Israel. I would rather have Israel or the United States send a few bunker buster HE missiles into the complex.
Though invasion and occupation of Iran and Iraq will give the united states lots of oil and bases in the Middle East to further acquire oil.

Listen, the US Economy was built on cheap oil. The economy still runs on it today! Though however unjust the wars may be, this collection middle east oil may be beneficial to a few people, namely corrupt politicians and others in the "lying for fortune" industry.

If we(the US) decide to do something I hope we have somebody smart enough working for us that they can just sneak into the complex and have a little "accident" happen there.

Before people start trashing the United States, they should look at our history, and the history of the world over the last 300 years, and ask themselves if the world is better or worse for the existence of America.
