Frats
I'm in a frat, and I love it. It all depends on the fraternity, my frat isn't the stereotypical frat, we have all kinds of people. I would go around and look to see if any frat out there fits you, if a frat doesn't fit you, don't try to make it work, you will be miserable.

edit: my opion doesnt count on this at all because its not like ive ever been in one, and ive been to 2 parties out of about a million, so dont take wut i said to heart anyone :hippy:

one of my roomates is joining a frat next quarter. i know a bunch of girls in sororities and they like it a lot. the frat parties are pretty cool too. it's up to you if you wanna pay that much money. the thing is if you join a national frat then you can go and stay at other houses when you travel which is pretty tight.

Sounds like maybe a frat that tells you what to do all the time is good for you considering you can't even make the desicion on joining the frat without others help...

Frats
I'm in a pretty large fraternity. Well I was until just recently. They are an excellent way to have a lot of fun. Stereotypical alcohol and weed related fun. That being said, I've made some of my best friends in my fraternity. Some of the others I could do with out. But if you pick 90 people randomly from the street I probably wouldn't like all of them either.
Alot of my good friends from High School who went to college with me were anti fraternity. I joined one and retained friendships with all of my initial friends and made more with some that they made there. As do the majority of people in fraternities.
The people who know frats through the Friday night fraternity experience don't really know the extent of what being in a fraternity entails. All the people I've met in the greek life are as different as the non greeks.
Disclaimer: If that doesn't make sense well, sorry. im blazed
