If you live there, you should be aware of the conditions that can arise. Similar to the residents on the coastlines of the U.S. You live right next to the ocean, there's a chance you will be hit by a hurricane or tropical storm, you have no one but yourself to blame if you get caught in one.

On the flip side, since the Chaparall is so hot and dry, it's easy for human to cause fires..which aren't natural.
