How many plants?

I have an area that is 2' x 4' x 8', ill be using a 400 w MH HPS combo for veg and flower. I orderely 10 big bud seeds about 2 weeks ago. My plan is to veg 8 of these guys and girls in 1 gallon pots to about 12" or so, hopefully i will get around 4 girlls. After i get my 4 girls into 3 gallon pots and the boys out i wanted to supper crop half of the girls and top the other half. I plan on using all FF nutes for the grow.

Am i going to have enough floor space and cannopy space to flower my 4 girls using topping and suppercropping, or should i shoot for maybee 3 girls?

Also does nebody have ne advice on a good soil?

I forgot to ask, with my space being a rather wide rectangle, should i get supplemental lights ie some cfl's for the outer edges? or will the 400w be enough?

It depends on how stealth your operation has to be, right? there are alot of factors you must consider. for example:

How big will you let these things get? So ok you say your shooting for 4 girls. sounds like a good plan to me! Remember 4 plants will reek like crazy. You say you will top them? For sure this is a good idea for these things will just devour this space you have.so it really depends on how stealth you have to be. roomates , parents a problem ? Then maybe 4 is too many.

Your question for the lights. If you have the resources (electircity and money)for more lights then go for them. you can always shoot the cfls into the forage from the sides.
