At home test control line
The control line helps to check the integrity of the test. If the control line doesn't show up, the test has gone bad. This isn't to say that if the control line shows up the test is perfect. It can be faulty with a control line but that is very rare. If the control line doesn't show up though it is definitely bad.

At home test control line I took a piss test at a private company a couple days ago. They collected the sample in-house and then shipped it to a lab for testing. Based on reading several threads on this site, I am confident that my urine was clean because I took an at home screening test immediately before going to take the test. It was one of those dipstick type tests that I got from the local pharmacy for about $15. Both the test line and the control line were sufficiently visible. I will not know the results until Rating: 5
