The Chesapeake Fire Department responded to a house fire on Sunset Drive Thursday morning. Crews were able to quickly douse the fire and the family of seven that lived there were all accounted for. There was, however, one missing cat.
Two firefighters "turned the house upside" down looking for the cat but could not find him. After assuming the worst, and about an hour had passed, "Orion" jumped onto the back of a couch in front of a picture window and coughed a few times. He was quickly taken out of the home and administered oxygen via a pet rescue mask. The pet mask was a gift from the Chesapeake Humane Society.
Chesapeake Fire Captain Steve Johnson said, "This has to be the toughest cat I have ever come across, or the smartest. We don't know where he hid, but it was obviously effective."
