    Various problems - 2nd grow

    Problem 1.

Well... my 4 day old clones are getting mould on the tips of the leaves. There was some browning of the tips when clipped. The humidity must be 100% temps are round 76F. They are in a prop tray in rockwool that was PH balanced and under T5's.

What can I do about this mould? I really don't want to start with problems. Any suggestions?

    Problem 2.

My moms that are only around 5 weeks old have various leaf discolouration issues. I did go away for a few days and they were without water for this time. When I came back I watered and they sprung back to life. leaves were VERY wilted though.
I have also been noticing and increasing amount of white "something" on the leaves. I do not foliar feed so this is not residue from water. Any ideas?

Soil - Indoor potting soil .9-0-0
    Lights - Sunblaster T5's
    Temp - 76
    Humid - 68%
Every third feed 1/2 strenght Botanicare Pro Grow
    Lighting 18/6
    Watered with rested tap water
    8" pots
    13" at the tallest.
Runoff PH is fine at 6.5

    Pics attached.

    Hello Friend,
I have looked over your pictures and have a few recomendations for you. I noticed that you are using a soil based enviornment. I'm sorry to say that I believe strongly that you have the dreaded spider mites. Please go through the following to confirm this.

When you turn over the spotted leaves do you notice microscopic black spots? I bet you will... check closer to the base of the leave.

I've noticed that the leaves higher on the plant seem to demonstrate a greater degree of spotting which is common for the spider mite.

In hotter more humid envriornments they will start to spin webs where they will lay their leaves.

I doubt that the wilting had much to do with this, its probably just a conincidence. However, it wouldn't suprise me that because the plants (like the human body) were weak, allowing the pests to grab hold.

Here is what you should do in order to get rid of them.

Get some SM90..... spray it every other day on your plants dosing them from top to bottom...... dripping wet is ok.....

I've included the link below to SM90 so you know what to buy..

Blink - Are you getting mold or rot on the clones' leaves? Whatever, trim the rot off the leaves and make sure to clean all the trimmings from your tray. You might also want to trim the bigger fan leaves on the clones so that they aren't hanging all over each other.

I don't see any black dots under the leaves, I took a preety careful inspection.

I thought it was signs of a nute burn and calcium def.

Any other thoughts or suggestions on corrective action?

this looks to me like a nute problem. First the edges are burned but i dont see the same on others, but those are micro nutes issues starting. some Cal Mag+ would help straighten that out before you get too far along. You are using a one part nute solution, so your micro needs to be adjusted some. I had the same problem with the Pro Grow and switch to the triflex and it corrected itself. you could prolly up your nute solution some and add a little calmag+ to it so that its getting the micro's that it needs

I will see if the hydro store carries the CalMag+.

You mention Triflex. Is this a Botanicare product?

I will nutes at 1/2 strength next feed and will try and find the Cal Mag+ or equivalent.

Will my clippings then inherit the same problem?

I'm fearing that I am going to lose what I have spent months on.
Hopefully it is what you say and things will get better.

    Thanks.

Blink you got defs going on there...Despite runnoff ph I would wonder if your plants are having an issue....you may want to consider flushing. I would consider 1/2 strength pro grow a pretty good amount of nute (imo) and you are using tap water.....you should not need CalMag unless you have some really funky tapwater. I'm wondering if you've got buildup in your soil that is blocking some nutes from getting through. I've been fighting just this sort of thing in my hdro grow recently.

Your plants aren't rootbound are they?

Two very good links. It would be a good thing if someone who actually grows in soil would agree with this since I only grow hydro.

Ps.....you GOTTA get your humidity down to 40's ish....that may be contributing HUGE amounts to your problem.

    Not rootbound yet.

When I flush, should I be flushing with only water, or flush with a 1/2 strength nute solution 2 or 3 gallons per plant?

I will be doing this tonight.

The white stuff on the leaves is a defficiency then rather than mildew?
Will a solution of soapy water fix it if it is mildew or should I go and get some neem oil?

I'm at a point that I am ready to throw everything out, lean everything and start from one clone however do NOT want to go to that extreme.

Responses are always welcome and advisce is appreciated.

I would flush with plain....ph correct water.....no nutes. As far as WHEN to start your nutes back up I'm afraid I really don't know....hopefully a soil growhead will stop by and tell us.

If you have white spots on your plants with your high humidity chance are (without seeing pics) it is powdery mildew. You'll need a good fungicide for it.....Stinky says she's had good success with neem oil but I'm afraid I'm not sure how to use it.

Your very high humidity will contribute to your defs and cause mold/fungus issues. You REALLY need to get your humidity down somehow.

I wouldn't quit now......unless you solve this issue what are you going to do if the next grow has the same problems?

    Good luck blink.
