I think the history of the Cathars is very fascinating. If you're really interested, look for a book called, in English, "Montaillou: Promised land of Error" by Emmanuel Le Roy-Ladurie. This man is one of the most famous historians of France, and in the world, and the book itself was a best seller in France when it came uot in the 70s. It's a great book about a village in which most of the inhabitants were Cathars themselves, and about the subsequent Inquisition which rooted them out. Fascinating stuff
