You had more than a little help from the French remember.
In early 1778, shortly after an American victory at Saratoga, France entered the war against Britain; Spain and the Netherlands joined as allies of France over the next two years. French involvement proved decisive, with a French naval victory in the Chesapeake leading to the surrender of a British army at Yorktown in 1781.
Do you think that if those 3 nations had kept out of the fight that the USA would ever have existed ?? I doubt it.
Funny that with all that help from France ,Holland and Spain that America still retains English as it's preffered language.psychocat Reviewed by psychocat on . 10-19-1781 today 226 years ago a rag tag army of rebals gained victory after fighting for five bloody years the goverment who controled them. they rose up and declared themselves an independent state and fought tooth and nail for this independence. who was this govermant they fought against? the british. and what is this newly formed country? the United States of America. this is he 226th anniversery of the surrender of gen.
